Description

The original caption reads: "Panorama of the upstream section of the South Bank Exhibition, Festival of Britain."

The South Bank Exhibition was a 27 acre site on the South Bank, which was redeveloped between 1949 and 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain. The majority of the buildings on the site were demolished following the end of the Festival. The 'Skylon' was the winning design for the 'vertical feature' competition.
