Description

The original caption reads: "The Lion Brewery and Shot Tower near Hungerford Bridge. November, 1948."

The brewery was demolished in 1949 and the site was redeveloped for the Royal Festival Hall for the South Bank Exhibition, part of the Festival of Britain. The Shot Tower was the only existing building on the site to be retained for the Festival, during which it was used as a radio beacon.
