Description

The original caption reads: "South Bank Exhibition. A view from County Hall. In the foreground are seen the Royal Pavilion and the Administration Block. On the left of the picture the "Skylon" rises up from the Dome of Discovery. On the mid horizon is seen part of the Shot Tower. The dark structure in the middle of the picture is the Mining Section of the Natural Resources Pavilion."

The South Bank Exhibition was a 27 acre site on the South Bank, which was redeveloped between 1949 and 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain. The majority of the buildings on the site were demolished following the end of the Festival.
