Description

The original caption reads: "South Bank Exhibition, Festival of Britain 1951. Interior of the Power and Production Pavilion."

The Power and Production Pavilion displayed how raw materials were used to generate electricity and how power was used by industry. It also emphasised that machines could not replace people: within the Pavilion, craftspeople wearing white coats - some shown in this photograph - demonstrated British crafts such as glass blowing and pottery painting, and making silverware, paper, and fine instruments.
