Description

The gatehouse was built in 1338 by Abbot Alan of Ketling. It is made of sandstone and has both an ornamental carriage archway and a smaller pedestrian one to the side. The building to the east of the gatehouse was added in the 16th century and was used, until the 18th century, as the court room for the manor of Battle.
