Description

An album of 63 pages containing 70 black and white photographic prints and 2 photographic postcards. They show the interiors and exterior views of both the castle and St Catherine's chapel which was built by the Hylton family alongside their fortified tower house at Hylton in Sunderland. The photographs date between 1955 and 1975 and record the condition and repair works undertaken on site. Also included are a small group of photos showing a detached modern toilet block. There are also a group of composite views of the interior of the castle.
