Description

An album of 31 pages containing 46 prints. The majority of the prints show repairwork to the timberwork upper storey of the north tower and the roof of the passage block. There are some general views of the castle interspersed with the renovations.

There is also one view of a tomb in the graveyard of All Saints Church, Wellington and one detail view of the curtain wall of Weoley Castle, Birmingham.

Although the prints were taken for the Ministry of Works and Ministry of Public Buildings and Works, (shown by the stamps on the reverse and the form of the original numbers), Stokesay Castle did not come into formal English Heritage Guardianship until 1992. They were, however, involved in previous repairs.
