Description

An album of 77 pages containing 90 black and white photographs.

The album is divided into two parts with a title page between. The first half (pages 1 - 66) shows Uffington White Horse, the second (pages 67 - 77) shows Uffington Castle.

The section of the horse shows it before, during and after the repairs and re-chalking carried out in 1951 - 1953. There are also some general views of the horse from a distance and of The Manger and Dragon Hill, including two views taken after the grass was burnt off. There are a couple of views of excavations in the horse's head and 3 views of signposts and a notice board.

The section on Uffington Castle shows the condition of the ground and track around and inside the camp in the mid-50s and some re-seeding attempts in the camp.
