An album of 102 pages containing 124 photographs and 6 Ministry of Works postcards.
The photographs come from a range of sets. Most show Walmer Castle, although there are some from Dover (see below).
The majority of the photographs are interior views of the castle, showing the rooms on display or during renovations, including views of the Lord Wardens Apartment before repairs in the 1970s. There are also exterior views and some views of the gardens.
There is a series of photographs of plans of the site which are now in the castle, these are generally poorly dated but account for the early creation dates for the collection. Almost all the photographs date from the 1950s to early 1970s.
Page 84 is a title page for the following 2 pages of prints which show the installation of Sir Robert Menzies as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports at Dover Castle. These are mostly duplicates of a set in a Dover Castle file cross-referenced below.
Towards the end of the album are sets showing the Statue of Mercury from the gardens in detail and the works compound for the castle.
This is part of the Series: OWS01/01 The 'Blue Albums'; within the Collection: OWS01 Office Of Works And Successors: Ancient Monuments And Historic Buildings
