An album of 69 pages containing 128 black and white prints.
The album is divided into three main sections by thin, white leaves.
At the front is a page with two photographs of Rievaulx: one of the chapter house and one of Abbey Farm. It is not clear if they are in this album by accident or because the Church at Rievaulx (visible in both prints) is often compared to Whitby.
The first section contains detail and general views of the Abbey Church showing it before and after renovations. There are also two views of the reconstructed nave arcade against the wall of the site. The second section shows the excavations carried out to the north of the Abbey Church in 1924 and 1925. The standards of excavations are low and the prints are a mix of detailed and general views which are located by 'Section'. Due to the low standard of excavation and photography it is often unclear what the remains are of, and the captions given are mostly restricted to what is stated in the album.
The final section contains detailed views of carved and inscribed stones found during the excavations. They are pictured against a cloth background, after cleaning. The prints are dated and these dates have been given as the creation dates although there is a chance they are actually the date of excavation of each stone.
