An album of 40 pages containing 50 photographs of dovecotes. The album covers nine sites in six counties. There are twelve views of Avebury Manor Dovecote, four of Sibthorpe Dovecote, three of West Dean Manor Dovecote, six of Marcham Dovecote, twenty one of Netheravon Manor Dovecote one each of East Harling, Netherwood, Charleston Manor and Caister Castle. Part of the sets on Avebury and Netheravon show renovations in progress.
Some prints are undated and have been dated by the original numbers or condition of the site, reference is made to this in the scope and contents.
The majority of the photographs were taken by English Heritage's predecessor bodies but the last eight were taken by County Studios in Bristol. They show renovations to Netheravon Dovecote and were presumably taken at the instigation of the Department of the Environment.
