An album of 43 pages, containing photographs, photographic copies and prints of Smarden Rectory, St Michael's Church and Smarden village. Some photographs show members of the Haslewood family. Curate and later incumbent of Smarden in the mid 19th century was Frederick Fitzherbert Haslewood. His son, born in Smarden in 1840, was the Rev. Francis Haslewood, a priest and antiquary who published a number of works on the antiquities of Kent and Suffolk, including 'Antiquities of Smarden, Kent' and 'Memorials of Smarden, Kent'. Some of the copies of illustrations in this album are credited to F Haslewood, which is probably Francis rather than Frederick, and it is possible that the album was assembled by or for the Haslewood family. One photograph is by G B Davies of Woolwich.
This is part of the Collection: SMA01 Album of photographs of Smarden, Kent
