Description

The hospital opened as the ‘Metropolitan Asylum for Chronic Imbeciles’ in 1870. It was later known as ‘Leavesden Asylum’. In 1920 the hospital was renamed ‘Leavesden Mental Hospital’, and from 1937 it was known as Leavesden Hospital. The hospital closed in 1997.
