Description

A file containing 6 folders of photographs of Egglestone Abbey in County Durham. The folders contain prints and postcards showing various views of the ruined abbey before it was taken into guardianship in the 1920s; black and white postcards for the site produced by the Ministry of Public Building and Works and the Ministry of Works; a number of black and white prints taken in 1958 showing both general views of the ruins and specific architectural details; and 6 colour prints of the site produced by the Department of the Environment in May 1977. One folder contains views of the tomb of Sir Ralph Bowes of Streatlam in Mortham Wood, Rokeby just before its relocation to the abbey in 1929.
