Description

Seven folders of photographs relating to activities at Stonehenge between 1960 and 1969. Of the most important episodes are the gravelling of the ground within the stone circle in 1963, and a major project to adjust and stabilise trilithon 53/54 in 1964. There are also aerial views, shots of the original ticket and sales hut, the monument floodlit at night, colour postcards. and detail views of pecked daggers and axes on two of the stones.

In addition, there are two folders of photographs of vandalism to the stones. One was taken in April 1968, the other is undated but probably 60s and possibly 1968.

There are photographs of a visit to Stonehenge and to the excavations at Durrington Walls on the same day in 1968.
