A collection of 5 colour transparencies, detailing the later stages of prefabricated Swedish House building. Each image demonstrates a different style of construction and because it is not possible to precisely locate where these houses were built, it is unclear whether they document construction at the same estate. The images are collated under the theme of Swedish Housing, a timber framed building method that was imported from Sweden during the postwar era. The Temporary Housing Act of 1944/5 was intended to alleviate the acute housing shortages of the immediate postwar years. The Ministry of Works was the government department tasked with the organisation and efficiency of the push for housing construction. It could be that these images are from a variety of locations and are used to demonstrate the variety of ways in which the Swedish Housing method was deployed.
4 of the 5 images have been digitally scanned as part of a 2019 project.
The original Ministry of Works storage envelope for these transparencies lists the operator as "T". A note on the envelope also suggests that the images are "Dufaycolour prints".
