Description

A collection of 16 black and white record images from a small area of terraced housing in Streatham, London. The images show original pre- Second World War terraced housing, and were taken by the Ministry of Works. The images show the exteriors of a variety of housing types and designs, over the area of about 4 intersecting roads. The area photographed is near to Northanger Road, where in 1946 a small estate of prefabricated temporary houses were built. The Ministry of Works was the government department tasked with the organisation and efficiency of the push for housing construction in the immediate postwar years.

The original Ministry of Works storage envelope lists operator as “B”.

6 of the 16 images were catalogued and digitised as part of a 2020 project.
