Description

Four black and white negatives taken for the Ministry of Works showing Forestry House and Chase House, a pair of semi detached houses built for Forestry Commission workers in the village of Ashmore, Doreset. All the negatives show exterior views, probably shortly after completion. The Ministry of Works was the Government department tasked under the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years. The original Ministry of Works storage envelope lists the operator as “B”.
