Four black and white negatives taken for the Ministry of Works showing the exterior of 71 Dorset Road, Morden and its immediate surroundings. At the time these photographs were taken, number 71 was one of a pair of traditional circa 1930s semi-detached houses sitting on a large plot. In the latter half of the 20th century an additional property was added, resulting in a row of three houses. The photographs may have been taken in prepartion for this development. The Ministry of Works was the Government department tasked under the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years. The original Ministry of Works storage envelope lists the operator as “B”.
