Description

Twelve black and white negatives taken for the War Damage Commission by the Ministry of Works to show damage caused at Longfield House, East Sheen during the Second World War. The negatives show exterior and interior views. The War Damage Commission was a body established by the British Government in 1941 to pay compensation for war damage to land, buildings and machinery.

The Ministry of Work was the Government department tasked by the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years.
