Description

Five black and white negatives taken by the Ministry of Works showing houses built to house Admirality employees in Verne Road, Verne Way and Verne Close, Weymouth. The negatives all show exterior views. The Admiralty was the British government department responsible for the command of the Royal Navy until 1964, when its functions were transferred into the Admiralty Board. The Ministry of Work was the Government department tasked by the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years.

Three of the five negatives were catalogued in detail in 2022.
