Description

Thirty four black and white negatives produced for the Department of the Environment Photographic Library showing exterior and interior views of homes in the Coomassie Road Housing Action Area, Queen's Park, Greater London. Streets shown include Ashmore Road, Mozart Street, Bravington Road, Portnall Road and Coomassie Road. Under the 1974 Housing Act, local authorities were able to create Housing Action Areas in order to improve the quality of existing housing in areas where the living conditions were considered to be unsatifactory.

The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.

Not all of the thirty four negatives have been catalogued in detail.
