Description

Sixty black and white negatives produced for the Department of the Environment Photographic Library. The negatives were produced as part of a vandalism survey carried out in south London, including on the Woodpecker Estate on the border of New Cross and Deptford and estates in Kennington. A number of the negatives are duplicate views and have historical markings indicating they are not for use. The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.

Nineteen of the negatives have been catalogued in detail.
