Description

Thirty six black and white negatives produced for the Department of the Environment Photographic Library showing exterior and interior views of housing estates in Enfield, Greater London. The negatives include views of the Barbot Estate, Edmonton Green Estate, Walmer House tower block (all Edmonton) and the Alma Road Estate in Ponders End. There are also some views of Edmonton Green shopping centre. The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.

Twenty of the negatives have been catalogued in detail.
