Twenty nine colour negatives produced for the Department of the Environment Photographic Library showing exterior views of late 20th century housing development at Alport Avenue, Colchester. The flats were built in the grounds of a large house known as Drury Lodge and views of the house also feature within this group. At some point, tape has been applied to six of the negatives, denoting that they were not intended for printing (all of these views are replicated in other negatives).
The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.
All of the undamaged negatives have been catalogued in detail.
This is part of the Sub Series: PSA01/04/H Housing; within the Series: PSA01/04 Negatives; within the Collection: PSA01 Property Services Agency
