Description

Thirty two black and white negatives produced by the Department of the Environment Photographic Library to illustrate a report titled "Families in Flats" by Judith Littlewood and Anthea Tinker (H.M. Stationery Office, 1981). The negatives show a pre-school nursery group at Ambleside Point, a high rise residential block on the Tustin Estate in Peckham, South London. The estate was completed by the Greater London Council in 1969.

The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.

All of the negatives within this group have been catalogued.
