Twenty seven black and white negatives produced for the Department of the Environment Photographic Library showing scenes around the Wenlock Barn Estate in London, N1. The negatives include views showing people working within an office, possibly one of the estate offices. Some of the negatives have been crossed through in pen.
Wenlock Barn is the largest estate in the Shoreditch area of central London. Lindale House, was the first block of flats to be built on the estate in 1949.
The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.
Not all of the negatives have been catalogued in detail.
