Description

Fourteen black and white negatives produced for the Department of the Environment Photographic Library showing views around the Stockwell Park Estate in Lambeth, a large council housing estate built circa 1970 . This is one of a series of sites photographed under the title 'Difficult to Let Estates'. As well as general views around the estate, this group also includes photographs of a police office meeting with a resident and a police office patrolling the estate. The Department of the Environment (along with its predecessor bodies the Ministry of Works and The Ministry of Public Building and Works) was the department responsible for government building projects and managing post war housing requirements.

Not all of the negatives have been catalogued in detail.
