TREE-RING DATING OF OAK TIMBERS FROM THE HASHOLME LOGBOAT.

Author(s): J Hillam

Examination of timbers from, and associated with, the Hasholme Logboat which was found in North Humberside in 1984, resulted in the production of a 377-year tree-ringchronology. This was dated to 699-323 BC, giving a probable felling date of 322-277 BC for the massive oak trunk which was used to construct the boat. The size and age of the trunk are also discussed.
