Barbury Castle: an archaeological survey by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England

Author(s): Mark Bowden

In 1998 RCHME undertook an archaeological investigation and analytical field survey of the Iron Age hillfort of Barbury Castle at the request of Swindon Borough Council to inform management of the site. As a result of this work a new phasing of the site was suggested. The site is known to have been used during the Second World War and some additional features of this date were suggested. (This report was originally numbered 3/1998 in the RCHME Archaeological Investigation Report Series.)
