Description

Construction work began on the Honor Oak Estate in the early 1930s. It was planned to rehouse families displaced by slum clearance. In 1941 a bomb fell on Hilton House killing 39 people. Following the war, Hilton House was rebuilt and work continued with new flats, shops and a pub.
