Description

Twelve black and white negatives taken by the Ministry of Works to illustrate damage caused at 5-7 Carnac Street, West Norwood, in support of a War Damage claim. The negatives all show exterior views. The War Damage Commission was a body established by the British Government in 1941 to pay compensation for war damage to land, buildings and machinery.

The Ministry of Work was the Government department tasked by the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years.

Three of the seven negatives were catalogued in 2022.
