Description

Five black and white negatives taken by the Ministry of Works showing construction of what would become known as the Fitzhugh Estate, a collection of five residential tower blocks on the edge of Wandsworth Common. The Ministry of Work was the Government department tasked by the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years.

Three of the five negatives were catalogued in 2022.
