Twelve black and white negatives taken by the Ministry of Works showing development sites for new housing in or near Haltwhistle. The sites were earmarked for staff at nearby RAF Spadeadam, Cumbria. There are also a handful of views showing the landscape and surrounding buildings (not catalogued). RAF Spadeadam is a Royal Air Force station and was built in 1955 to be an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Test Centre. It is now home to the Electronic Warfare Tactics Range. The Ministry of Works was the Government department tasked under the 'Temporary Housing Act 1944/45' with alleviating the acute housing shortages in the immediate postwar years.
Four of the twelve negatives were catalogued in detail in 2022.
