Stanmer Park, Falmer / Westmeston / Ditchling, Brighton and Hove, City of (UA), Lewes - South Downs (NP) / Brighton and Hove, City of (UA) / Lewes

Undulating C18 landscape park between the city fringe and Sussex Downs surrounding a country house and incorporating Stanmer village. Bought by the Council in 1947 for public amenity, the parkland fabric has been highly fragmented by the A27 construction through the park and woodland loss in 1987. Amenity management, parking and development afffects the integrity of historic character. With a Conservation Management Plan and a £3.75 million grant to improve parking, access and convert the walled garden, a woodland management plan was created in 2018 and walled garden works began in 2019.
