Stanmer Park, Ditchling / Falmer / Westmeston, Brighton and Hove, City of (UA), Lewes - South Downs (NP) / Brighton and Hove, City of (UA) / Lewes

Undulating C18 landscape park between city fringe and Sussex Downs surrounding a country house and incorporating Stanmer village. Bought by the Council (1947) for public amenity, the parkland fabric is highly fragmented by A27 and woodland loss (1987) with further housing development approved in 2021. National Lottery Heritage Fund funded works to improve parking, access and convert the walled garden opening 2021. Next steps; joint management and visioning within parkland, conservation plans being sought through Whole Estate Plan with Highways England Designated Funds for access improvements.
