North Mill, Bridge Foot, Belper - Amber Valley
Important example of early 'fireproof' mill, 1803-4. Amber Valley Borough Council and Historic England are deeply concerned about the condition of the roof and occasional flooding in the basement. The owner has undertaken some temporary repairs. These are failing and wholesale re-roofing is required. The adjoining grade II East Mill is also vacant and in poor condition. The owner has put forward proposals for residential and mixed used conversion. Alternative proposals are also being investigated. The museum closed in October 2022.
