Porch to Engine House, Papplewick Pumping Station, Papplewick - Gedling
Engine house built in 1881 by M.O. Tarbotton for Nottingham Corporation Water Department. The timber porch is sited on the east elevation and is approached via balustraded steps. Mansard roof carried on balusters. Renovated in 2004. Significant scarf joints evident to principle posts. Several structural timbers have suffered significant deterioration with some having suffered a considerable loss of section. Modern paint finishes are trapping moisture. Rainwater goods are failing and allowing water to penetrate the structure. A Historic England Development grant was awarded in Spring 2022.
