Holland House, Kensington High Street W8 - Kensington and Chelsea

Remains of a large C17 mansion of considerable architectural and historic importance damaged during World War II. The east wing is occupied as a youth hostel and the courtyard used for summer opera events. However, both wings require considerable maintenance. The rainwater goods are failing in the west wing and causing stone to spall, and the balustrading has been dismantled for safety reasons but without a plan for reinstatement. The Local Authority has been liaising closely with Historic England, and has engaged consultants to identify and inform necessary works.
