Description

St Katherine's Convent, earlier and subsequently known as St Katherine's House, dates from the mid-nineteeth century and was in use in the early and mid-twentieth century as a Carmelite Nunnery. St Katherine's Chapel to the immediate west of the house, is a small chapel dating from the fourteenth century. It is thought to have been a pilgrims' chapel on the route to Canterbury. The chapel was restored as a Roman Catholic Chapel in the 1890s.
