Description

The Indian Institute was built between 1883-96, and provided training for the Indian Civil Service. The caption on the reverse of this print explains that part of its library was housed in the basement. In 1968 the library was moved to the New Bodleian building. The History Faculty later occupied the Indian Institute building and its library remained in the old Indian Institute when the Faculty moved to George Street in 2007.
