Description

It is likely that this as-yet unidentified man was a prominent figure at the Theatre Royal; his fine clothes do not give the impression that he was one of the ordinary male theatre workers, although he may have been a chief artist for the scene and props department. Research sources indicate that a Mr W R Young was scenic artist at the Theatre Royal at the end of the nineteenth century, but it is unclear whether Young is the man shown in this image.
