LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON WINDMILL RD, SW19 TQ 27 SW (north side) 1/176 The Old Windmill 1.6.49 - II*

Windmill. 1817-18, altered in 1893. Brick with painted weatherboards to body.

2 storey octagonal round house, (faced in brick in the 1860s upon conversion into cottages). Eight sided tower, flaring to base , supporting weatherboarded body with pointed arched top; four sails. Retains machinery, restored late C20. This was formerly a hollow post mill; in 1893 the post was removed and the conical tower heightened.
