The front elevation has been remodelled. Mainly C18 with possibly some C17 work remaining. Timber framed, with gallery to rear. Tile roof.

Main elevation Four storeys, gabled to road. Stuccoed. Three light window in gable end above dentil cornice and frieze supported on four two-storey Ionic pilasters. Two windows on second floor, double hung sashes with replaced glazing bars; central cartouche with fruit, scroll and mask ornament with the name of the hotel. One the first floor three windows, the two outer resembling those of the second floor, the central window being, a three light sash, all have replaced glazing bars and wood cornices.

One window on the ground floor, a three light canted bay with original glazing bars. Flat arched carriage entrance to left. Fascia with name of the hotel.

Plinth.

To right, two storey section, stuccoed, with hipped roof. Plinth.

Adjoining section is of three storeys, gabled. One window each section, double hung sash with glazing bars under frieze and cornice. Wood bressumer on brackets above ground floor. One ground floor one three light window, double hung sash with later glazing bars. Plinth.

Charles I held more than one council of war in the then Bell Inn.

Nos. 2 to 60 (even) form a group.
