GV II
House. Dated DH 1646 on plaque in gable end. Another worn plaque above declares: "Rebuilt Sir Michael Seymour, Rockingham Castle". This took place 1949. Front gable end is built of large blocks of semi-dressed ironstone; left side is part banded with ironstone and limestone rubble; rear gable and right side are of pinkish rubble limestone; all raised C20 in ironstone rubble. C20 concrete tile roof, 2 brick chimneys. At right-angles to road. 2 storeys, 2 bays, the far bay formerly an outbuilding. Gable end has mutilated C17 windows with ovolo-moulded stone surrounds and cyma recta cornices, originally of 3-lights but with mullions removed and C20 horizontal sliding sashes inserted, the lower opening at one time a doorway. C17 date plaque also has cornice.
Traces of original roof-line, with moulded kneelers. Left side has 3 wooden casements to ground floor, 3-light flanking 2-light, all with wooden lintels, and 3 C20 paired metal casements with concrete lintels to first floor. Central board door. Right side has casement and blocked slit to former outbuilding.
