10/20 Pair of grave slabs (Newton Rhoades) approx 2 metres north of east end of chancel of Church of All Saints

GV II

Pair of grave slabs. Early C18. Sandstone slabs.

The left one is plain with some ornamentation at top and is to: Elias son of Jonas and Martha Newton d. 21st February 1716. Also Jonas Newton d. August 1720. Also Martha Newton d. 10th May 1727. Also Thomas son of John and Anne Right d. 22nd April 1726.

The right stone has a moulded surround and an elaborately carved top in relief showing flowers in the centre and winged angels in the corners. To: Edward Rhoades of Cawthorne Hall d. 16th January 1737. A short poem follows.

Also Alice daughter of Thomas and Ann Rhoades d. 19th May 1744 aged 3 months.

Also Joseph son of Thomas and Ann Rhoades died in his infancy 1746. Also Benjamin son of Thomas and Ann Rhoades died in his infancy 1750.
