HAYWOOD CP - SO 43 NE 3/76 Cider house, stable and hop kiln about 10 yards west of Haywood Lodge GV II

Cider house, stable and hop kiln. Late C18 and late C19. Brick with corrugated iron, Welsh slate and asphalt roofs. Rectangular plan aligned roughly east/west with circular late C19 hop kiln at west end and stable at east end. Two levels. North elevation has cider house to centre with two segmentally-headed openings and two ledged doors set behind six posts supporting a canopy. To the right is the hop kiln with conical asphalt roof. Left-hand side has entry to stable. Interior has complete cider mill about ten feet in diameter with oak rim and bars for horse. Cider press is also complete and has iron bars for screwing the cheese. Cobbled floor. Stable has two stalls with cast iron divisons inscribed in raised lettering: MUSGRAVES/ PATENT/ BELFAST, and a loose box in separate room with wainscoting. Roof trusses have pegged king-posts with angle struts to principals. The hop kiln is said to have last been used in 1912.
