House, now 2 shops. Early C19 with later C19 shop fronts. MATERIALS: painted brick to front, unpainted to right return (west), limestone rubble to the rest; hipped slate roof with brick stacks to sides and rear. PLAN: double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic, 3-window range. The late C19 shop to the front has panelled pilasters supporting heavy consoles to a plain fascia. The first-floor has three 6/6 pane sashes. The right return, in North Street, is almost symmetrical 4-window range with a platband at cill level; the first-floor has a 6/6-pane tripartite sash to the far right, and a similar-sized blind window to far left; a 6/6-pane sash to inside right and a similar blind window to inside left; below the one to the far left is a large round-arch recess with a tripartite window painted as a trompe l'oeil, and the North Street sign is fixed in the upper part; to the inside left is a similar trompe l'oeil of a 6/6-pane sash; to the far right is a round-arch recess with a C20 window in the lower part, and to the inside-right is a set-back door with a round-arch window serving as a large fanlight. Front and right slopes of the roof each have a flat-roofed dormer. To the rear of the building is a lower, 2-storey extension with one 3-light casement window to the first-floor and tripartite 6/6-pane sash under a segmental arch to the ground-floor. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: stepped-back from the left of the facade, is approximately 1.5m of Ham Hill stone wall with coping, fronting a single-storey lean-to which has a recessed round-arch doorcase with imposts, and a 6-panel door under a C20 fanlight.
