A detailed view of the top of one of Durham Cathedral's west towers

The west towers have four stages that match the main body of the nave. The top stages blind arcading with pointed arched opening in the second-from-top stage. The embattled parapet is tall and pierced, and the corners have large plinths with crocketed pinnacles.
