Birnbeck Pier, Weston-Super-Mare - North Somerset (UA)

Main pier which connects Birnbeck Island to the mainland below the Prince Consort Gardens. The structure is dated 1862 opened in 1867. Negotiations ongoing between the Local Planning Authority, owner, Historic England and other interested parties about repair of pier and development of island. Trial repairs grant-aided by Historic England in 2009-2010 to help establish likely total repair costs. Storm damage continues to destroy both the north jetty and the main pier which are now too dangerous to walk over or under.
