Pair of houses. c1850. Probably by Charles Reed. Brick with stone dressings and Welsh slate roof. 2-room double-depth plan with side entrances. 2 storeys. Symmetrical, 4 bays. Outer full-height canted bays with sash windows and remnants of cast iron balcony at first floor. Entablature over, carrying cartouche. Inner bay has full-height pedimented gable articulated by pilasters and with tripartite window to ground floor, 12-pane sash above with cast iron balcony. Renewed doorways in side elevation. Overhanging eaves. Forms part of the original development of Claughton, laid out by Charles Reed for Sir William Jackson and begun c1844.
